Frequently Asked Questions

Here you can find some of the answers to your questions. If you do not find an answer that suits your needs, do not hesitate to contact us!.

To be able to use DataRepositóriUM to deposit your research data, you must be a member of the University of Minho community. You have to create a user account at https://datarepositorium.uminho.pt/ sing the same credentials used to access the services of University of Minho. Then, send an email to datarepositorium[@]usdb.uminho.pt with the following data:

  1. User name / email address used on DataRepositóriUM
  2. User profile: Researcher / Teacher / Student
  3. Data scope: Project / Thesis / Other
  4. School / Research Unit in which you wish to deposit your data

Finally, the repository support staff will validate your account and user profile, giving you the required permissions to deposit your research data.

Add the Terms of Use for your dataset to explain how to access and use your data. The Dataset terms can be viewed and edited on the "Terms" tab, or on the "Edit" button on the Dataset page. There you can:

  • define how users can use your data after they have downloaded it (CC0 licence or custom Terms of Use);
  • define how users can access your data if you have files in restricted access (access terms); and
  • activate a Guestbook for your dataset, which will allow you to monitor who is using your data and for what purposes.

A Dataset is a particular set of data for a particular research dataset (this can include research data, code and documentation).
Datasets have an associated metadata record (also referred to as cataloguing information or data documentation). This metadata provides contextual information about the dataset.

A Dataverse represents the set of one or more Datasets or Dataverses, and may also be referred to as a collection. Researchers can create Dataverses for their own research projects, and/or directly deposit Datasets in their Institutional Dataverse.
