Data on municipal characteristics were extracted from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística—IBGE). Data on TV and radio stations were extracted from the National Telecommunication Agency (Agência Nacional\r\nde Telecomunicações—ANATEL) and consumer price indices were obtained from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (Fundação Getúlio Vargas—FGV).\r\n\r\nSince the article analyzes the determinants of the reelection of Brazilian mayors, the sample is restricted to the four local election years and to the municipalities whose incumbent mayors ran for reelection.
